Nominating Committee

The nominating committee carries out the following responsibilities:

  • An annual review of current membership and membership needs.
  • The development of a slate of new officers each year in advance of the Annual Board Meeting.
  • The identification of substance abuse community representatives.
  • The presentation of new directors to the Board of Directors (from the community and from the Catchment Area Councils).

The new slate of officers will be sent to the Board of Directors and Catchment Area Council members prior to the Annual Meeting. The Executive Director works closely with this committee to review the membership needs at all levels of the Agency. Catchment Area Council and Board of Director membership needs to carefully balance representation to make sure that all of the fourteen towns in our region have a voice, and that there is also representation from consumers, family members, potential consumers (citizens), and providers.

This committee presents a slate of officers to the Board of Directors each year at the Annual Board Meeting to ensure that a new Executive slate can be voted on. Other items to be voted on at the meeting include the official recognition of substance abuse representatives and the official recognition of new Directors of the Board.

This committee is not responsible for selecting and presenting new Catchment Area Council Chairs and Co-Chairs. These positions are voted upon at Annual CAC Meetings. However, CAC Chairs and Co-Chairs are usually announced at the Annual Board Meeting.

Membership

This committee will consist of interested participants from the Board of Directors and Catchment Area Councils who are elected at a Board of Directors meeting. Ideally, membership is decided during the first meeting following the Annual Meeting. Membership will include a minimum of four individuals; one to represent each of the four Catchment Area Councils. The Chair of this committee will be a member of the Board of Directors, and is elected by the Committee.

Meetings

This committee meets between the months of January and June to prepare for slate changes usually announced at the Annual Board Meeting.
